Turning of the soil
On behalf of Ngāti Te Whiti Hapū, we proudly announce a momentous and historic occasion for our Hapū and wider community.
After generations of vision, commitment, and enduring hope, we gather to celebrate the turning of the soil for our long awaited Marae – a sacred space that will stand as a living legacy for our people, our ancestors and future generations.
This significant event represents:
The restoration and strengthening of our whakapapa connections
The protection and guardianship of our whenua
The continuation of our tikanga and cultural idenity
A place of belonging for our Hapū and the wider community
We invite our Hapū members, whānau, and the wider community to stand with us as we witness the blessing and turning of the soil, and begin this sacred journey together.

Together we acknowledge our tūpuna (ancestors), honour our present generation, and prepare the foundation for those yet to come.
This ceremony marks not only the turning of the soil – but the turning of a new chapter for our people.

Nā te mana o Ngāti Te Whiti Hapū, ka whakapuakina tēnei kaupapa whakahirahira, kaupapa hītori hoki mō tō tātou Hapū me te hapori whānui.
Whai muri i ngā reanga maha o te wawata, te ūmanga, me te tūmanako mauroa, ka huihui tātou ki te whakanui i te kauhuri oneone mō tō tātou marae hou kua roa e tūmanakohia ana – he wāhi tapu hei taonga tuku iho mō te hapū, mō ngā tūpuna, mō ngā uri whakatipu.
