Work starts
This milestone is the start of work on Ngāmotu Marae site,, and the next step toward building a cultural home for Ngāti Te Whiti for the first time in almost two centuries. The ceremony was led with tikanga, karakia, kōrero, and deep acknowledgement of those who have carried this kaupapa through decades of vision, planning, and perseverance.

A new chapter begins
Haydn Te Ruki led hapū members, trustees, and contractors in karakia to prepare the Ngāmotu Marae site for the mahi ahead. It was a quiet moment, grounding everyone in shared purpose and reminding us why this project matters for our people, our future, and our place.
History in the making
Ngāti Te Whiti have taken an exciting step forward in the Ngāmotu Marae build, formally signing the contracts for stage one civil and infrastructure works.
Project Reaches Major Milestone
Ngāti Te Whiti Hapū Society and the Ngāmotu Marae Reservation Trust marked a significant step in the creation of Ngāmotu Marae with hapū members gathering for the laying of the mauri stone.
